Carmela McCleary happened upon the wonderful world of signing while obtaining her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. After completion of her degree, Carmela continued to take advanced level sign courses, as well as beginning a full-time teaching career as a preschool teacher with a local Head Start program. Carmela did this while completing her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education.

Six years later, Carmela resigned as a preschool teacher to be the sole care-provider to her son, born August 2005. Having seen the incredible results of using sign language with her preschoolers, Carmela committed to the idea of teaching her son as well. While researching the benefits of using sign with your baby, Carmela found WeeHands classes through Play2Gether and attending an 8 week course along with her then, newly-born son. Carmela now can inspire others how to communicate with their children through her own WeeHands classes!
