Denise DesRoches' first language is American Sign Language and she comes from a large family with both deaf and hearing family members. Denise has had experience signing with young infants/children for over 20 years including many family members. Most recently Denise has taught her 2 1/2 yr old hearing niece since birth how to sign. Her niece knows over 100 signs, can sign the ABC's and count up to 10 in sign language.

Denise has been working as a Child and Youth Worker at Ernest C. Drury in Milton - one of 3 Provincial Deaf Schools in Ontario for over 17 years. Denise has also been working as a Deaf Interpreter with the Canadian Hearing Society for over 3 years. As a Deaf Interpreter she works with Deaf individuals that use foreign sign language or they have a disabling condition that impacts communication.
