Sheri remarks
"It's fun to have a conversation with our one
year old while playing or reading books, but
especially during mealtime. Using sign with
Sierra reduces frustration and minimizes us
guessing whether or not Sierra is all done,
wants more of something, or is thirsty. We look
forward to eating with Sierra every day!
I was first
exposed to the idea of using the ASL I learned
in college with my baby after reading an article
in a local parenting magazine about the benefits
of using sign language to increase vocabularies
and develop higher literacy skills. As a former
school teacher I know the importance of giving
early learning opportunities to my child.
Another WeeHands instructor presented to our
local mom's group. It was then that I knew I
could become a WeeHands instructor.
I have seen
first hand the benefits of learning sign
(strengthens the family bond, lessens
frustration, crying, and tantrums, increases
I.Q., language skills, and ability to pay
attention, fosters a love of books and more
sophisticated play, builds self esteem and
confidence) and would love to pass that
information along to other parents." |
