I've been meaning to tell you that my little boy, S. (now 8.5 months old) is starting to use his signs. For about a month now he's been doing the sign for MILK. When he's whining he now also shows me the MILK sign, it sure makes it a lot easier to not have to guess what it is he is upset or whining about. - Meghan A.

I have to tell you that Lanna is now a signing wizard! She signs milk, juice, more, cheese, please, thank you and potty! Suddenly at about 13 months she just started catching on to all of them. She signs potty before she goes and usually I catch it. We are so impressed. My husband is all over the signing now! Many thanks! - Carolyn I.

I have to write and thank you for your wonderful course. My husband and I attended your Front St classes (sans baby) when our son was 9 months old last year (2005). His nap time was right around class time and it was just easier for us to leave him with a sitter. At home, we leisurely signed to him, not sure if he was retaining anything, but we noticed he seemed to understand what we were signing. His first signed word was “milk”, then “more”. His progress seemed slow at first, but by 15 month, a light bulb seem to turn on and his signing vocabulary quadrupled. Now at 20 mos. he is able to replicate and understand any sign we show him once. He remembers signs that we don’t use every day and he is like a sponge, eager to learn more words. Along with signing words, he started trying to say them out loud and I think this helped his retention. At first he would just sign the word “more,” then he started signing and saying “mai-mai,” now he clearly says more (with or without signing).  People who don’t know about baby signing are amazed and entertained that he can communicate, and I think he is a happier toddler because he can communicate his needs. - Liz and Norm

Gentry is actually very early with words. She is 19th months with ~200 words, at least. But she still loves to watch signing time video! Attending your class was one of the very memorable activities in Toronto. The class picture is in Gentry's album. - Masayo H.

Just wanted to also tell you that I am really enjoying the class! I love signing to my son and teaching him new things! For the last week Aiden has been getting excited when I signed to him and he loves when we sing and sign to him! My husband has gotten into it as well-he asks me what are the new signs that I learned for that weeks and he his so good at signing things like 'change diaper, dirt, I love you, play, daddy, change clothes and eating different foods' I even have him signing with me in the car and the grocery! We get lots of practice too because we communicate with each other in public by signing so that we don't have to let the whole world know our baby has a dirty diaper! I took the WeeHands Course with my daughter when she was 3 months old. She is now a year and 8 months old and is flourishing with both verbal and sign language. I thought she would never use the signs...but shortly before her first birthday she began to use them giving her the power to communicate her needs. Thank-you for your program! We have just returned from a fantastic 4-night cruise aboard the Disney Wonder in honour of Naomi's birthday and her Daddy's birthday, too. Naomi LOVES Mickey Mouse and signs "mouse" like a maniac whenever she sees him (I didn't know when I taught her, that Mickey Mouse has his own special sign, so she just knows him as "mouse"). She was soooo excited to meet him "in person" she signed "Please" then "mouse" (or "dog", or "duck"--whatever the case may be) whenever she spotted him (or Pluto, or Donald, or Daisy), and only cried when we her turn was done and we took her away from him!! She also signed please, then pointed to the water when she wanted to go swimming, and signed "all done" and pointed to the beach when she was finished and wanted to go dig in the sand. We are so impressed--she probably has about 40 signs that she uses regularly now and I am telling everyone I know about how fantastic signing with your baby is!!! - Tracy B.

I wanted to say that this has been the best thing that I have done so far with my son. We are having so much fun playing together, he is only 4.5 months old but he shows that he somewhat understands things now! Bath time, Diaper Change, Mom, Dad, Milk, and Sleepy. My husband and I are having a lot more interaction with him then I know I would at this point in his life due to the signing. If anything it has gave us a way to entertain him!
